I'm Back!

I'm so sorry that I haven't posted in over 6 months! I honestly lost a lot of motivation, and became very complacent with travel because of the usual things that hold me back from travelling more. You know, the basics; work, bills, family, furry-children (no real children to worry about yet!), and the other general going-ons of life. I will admit, I'm a newbie traveler so my expectation of what travel really is, was a bit, shall we say...unrealistic. I've travelled around the United States quite a bit since I was young, but like I’ve mentioned previously, I didn’t travel out of the country until I was 18 when I went to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. It took me almost 6 years before I got the chance to leave the US again and experience a new world. That’s when the travel bug really bit into me good!
My honeymoon/1 year anniversary trip was long overdue (obviously since it doubled as a honeymoon and 1st anniversary trip!), but ooh so worth it. Unfortunately, for some reason it became difficult for me to be happy looking back on the experience. I've realized a lot of why I became so bitter about travel is because up until recently, we didn't have any plans on when we would go out of the country again, so whenever I did think about travel, I somehow found myself focusing on the regrets I had from our last trip. Let me tell you, DON'T DO THIS!
My husband and I had the time of our lives during our 8 day stay abroad, and I have so many fond memories that I will forever cherish of our time over there. Someday I hope to add more memories of London and Paris, but it’s taken me almost a year now to realize that someday won't be tomorrow or the next day, or the next for that matter. I’m a very impatient person so this is taking a lot in me to adjust to this thinking. As soon as my husband proposed I started planning and researching our trip to London, which ended up being 2 and a half years beforehand! And do you know what? I was happy! I didn’t have anything to look back on and regret not seeing or not tasting, I just had the incredible anticipation of London looking forward. So that’s what I’m going to do, just keep looking forward!

Our next adventure is taking us to Chicago, home of the Chicago Cubs! At least that’s all my husband will say they’re home of. I’m pretty sure “White Sox” is a swear word in his mind. We are less than a month away, and I couldn’t be more excited about visiting another city with my best friend. We’ll be seeing two Cubs games while we’re there (more if Mike has his way!), and seeing all the wonderful sights that Chicago has to offer. We actually fly out from Portland on our 2nd anniversary, and we’re taking a red-eye flight so we’re going to try to take it easy the first day since we won’t get much sleep that night with it only being a four hour flight. We’re flying with a new airline (Spirit) this time that is known for cheap airfare but not much else so I’m excited to be able to give you all some feedback on the airline once we’ve made it back to Oregon and I’d love to hear from anyone who has flown with Spirit Airlines before! I’ve found that I’m very stingy when it comes to paying for airfare since I’d rather spend my money in the destination, not getting to it, so I was thrilled to find out that both our tickets round trip only cost us $450 dollars! However, if the flight is terrible, I’ll be spending a bit extra next time we fly.

Well I believe it’s time to sign off now. I’m really hoping I can post at least once a week from now on, and with my new found determination that shouldn’t be a problem! Until next time…

The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page.
